The Best Ways to Enjoy the Summer With Kids

The summer months are admittedly more fun for parents than most other months. No homework, less fighting, more time in the sun and less time in housework.

What do you have on your summer to-do list? Here are some suggestions to enjoy this summer with kids:Activities To Enjoy The Summer

  • Hiking State parks typically don’t charge for admission. While you may need to pay to park, you can look forward to a high return on your investment with a day in the rough. Hiking trails range from beginner to advanced, varying in distance. Choose the trail that’s right for everyone and enjoy scenic beauty, wildlife and some peace and quiet. Hiking is relaxing, inexpensive and above all, it’s great exercise!

  • Cooking Outdoors Many children would rather stay out at night than come in for dinner. Split the difference by having a family barbecue. Have them invite their friends and invite some of your own. Don’t worry about the late night. There are no such things as a school night in the summer!

  • Prepare Sprinkler Games If you live in an area without water restriction, come up with games for the whole family. Come up with game that would entice your children to run through the sprinkler to get to the other side. This encourages safe, outdoor play that keeps your children cool in the heat and your lawn looking fresh. Have towels and a bowl of fruit ready on the porch when they’re ready to dry off themselves.

  • Drive-In Theaters There are still plenty of drive-in movie theaters around. Designate a night for two movies at a drive-in movie theater near you. Bring blankets and bug spray. Bring snacks or purchase them at the concession bar. Tune into the designated radio station and watch your child’s eyes light up. Look for a double feature for doubling the fun.
