7 Easy Craft Ideas to Make Parents’ Day Memorable

Parents’ Day is observed on the fourth Sunday of every July in the United States. For many of you, Parents’ Day bears a special importance during this time of the year when you can formally pay a loving tribute to your beloved parents. You can transform this Parents’ Day into a truly unforgettable time for your parents by creating a few easy yet fantastic handmade crafts, all by yourself.

7 Easy Craft Ideas to Make Parents' Day Memorable

Handicrafts are more valuable to parents than any present that’s purchased from a shop. Gifts from their children are so precious to parents that it wouldn’t be surprising if, even decades later, you discovered some of the items you had crafted for your parents in their closet.

Here you can get some of the Parents’ Day craft ideas to make your folks feel loved and appreciated:

  1. Framed Photo Collage Select, scan, enlarge and print some nice old family photos. Paste them in random design on a cardboard sheet leaving one centimeter of extra space on each sides of the cardboard. Include a short message, like -‘We love you, Mom & Dad’, at the base of the frame and decorate the frame edges

  2. Decorated Paper Weight You can paint beautiful designs on a smooth rock or a big pebble. If you are artistic, you could try free-hand painting. While some of you who might not be comfortable with real art can draw symbols, you can draw abstract art or colorful patterns which are as good as realistic art.

  3. Stick Flower Pot Put a rubber band around a tin can and place few craft sticks underneath the rubber band. Completely cover the can with craft sticks on the outside. Wrap a piece of ribbon around the can and tie in a bow or knot, cutting off any extra ribbon. You can fill the can with some soil and plant a flower to complete this craft stick flower pot project. You can also make a hole at the base of the can for water drainage.

  4. Creative Pen Stand You can choose to make a pen stand out of used soft-drink cans. Cut the top, round surface such that it appears as a cylinder that’s open on one side. Compress the uneven edges using pliers and conceal the rim with a black insulation tape. Paint the outer portion of the can using colors of your choice and decorate the pen stand by coating it with dark stencil designs.

  5. A Memory Diary Make a scrapbook or a diary of memories to record the thoughts that reflect you and your family member’s sentiments on themes related to Parents’ Day. You can include a page on “Most cherishable moments with mom and dad”. You can also request your parents to mention some of their views, such as the qualities of their children. Your parents will certainly appreciate it.

  6. Bottle Cap Bookmark With a one inch circle-punch, cut scrapbook paper. Place a thin layer of craft glue on the inside of the bottle cap and then fix the punched paper circle in the bottle cap by pressing firmly. Next place a one inch epoxy sticker on top of the paper. Attach a jumbo paper clip to the back of the bottle cap using hot glue.

  7. Fingerprint Candle Take a tissue paper slightly smaller than the size of your candle. Then dip a fingertip in acrylic paint to make the flower petals and bumblebee bodies by pressing on the tissue paper. Using paint or marker, write “Happy Parents’ Day” in the bee’s trail and wrap the dried tissue paper around the candle. With blow drying, your design will look brighter as the wax melts. Remove the tissue paper.

Use the opportunity on this Parent’s Day, to show your gratitude to your parents, and turn it into a wonderful and memorable day for them.
